The VEX robotics programme allows students to develop lifelong skills such as teamwork, leadership and communication, all of which were on display today. A huge thanks to Siobhan Grealy, STEM engagement officer with Longford County Council, for her support to both schools.

IAMTA (Irish Applied Maths Teachers’ Association)
Four teams from St. Mel's College travelled to Moyne yesterday with Ms Mulvihill to represent the school in the IAMTA (Irish Applied Maths Teachers’ Association) Junior Problem Solving Competition. All four teams performed exceptionally well in this very challenging competition. Special congratulations to Ben Clarke (TY), Rory Morgan (TY), Daniel Maciejewski (3rd Year), and Tudor Serban (3rd Year), who secured an impressive 3rd place, just one mark behind the joint winners. Well done to all involved.
Catholic Schools Week
A beautiful way to end Catholic Schools Week 2026 this morning as our 1st years visited St Mel’s Cathedral and joined the local parish community for morning mass celebrated by our school chaplain Fr Tony. We were proud to bring our Art Club painting, featuring our school crest and the words 'Hope and Faith' written in the 34 languages spoken by our students — a true reflection of our diverse school community. A huge thank you to Fr Tony, who visited the school after Mass and spoke to all students over the intercom and said a prayer to end #Catholic SchoolsWeek. The theme of Catholic Schools Week was Normal lives called to Holiness. It was a meaningful reminder that holiness is found in everyday moments, lived through faith, kindness, and community
