FTD Brothers Marathon
On Monday morning, our vibrant school community rallied at the Longford mall complex to support the incredible @ftdbrothers FTD in their inspiring quest: running a marathon every day for 32 days across every county in Ireland!
Our students and teachers truly showed their spirit—some ran alongside the brothers, while others cheered them on from the footpaths, creating an atmosphere of encouragement and camaraderie!
This mission goes beyond personal endurance; it raises awareness about the devastating effects of dementia, a challenge that has deeply impacted their family. By sharing their story, they aim to foster understanding and hope for all those affected by this critical issue.
As the boys continue their magnificent journey, we want to express our unwavering support. Every step they take inspires us to come together and make a difference!
Whole School Sports Day
Last Friday we had our first-ever all-inclusive sports day at St Mel’s College! This event marked a significant milestone as we celebrated the spirit of sportsmanship and inclusivity among all year groups.
The day featured a variety of events, including high jumps, long jumps, and 400m sprints that showcased incredible talent and determination. Team sports like dodgeball, basketball, volleyball, and soccer brought out teamwork and camaraderie among participants from every year level. A highlight of the day was the thrilling teacher vs. student tug of war, which added an extra layer of fun and competition. Students engaged enthusiastically throughout, making the day truly memorable.
A huge credit goes to the Physical Education department, including Mr. Quinn, Mr. Harvey, Mr. Feeney, Mr. Tiernan, and Miss O’Rourke, for their exceptional planning and dedication that ensured everything ran smoothly.
