U-14 Team win Leinster Title

The morning after Breakfast

St Mel’s U-14 team were crowned Leinster Champions in Portlaoise today when they defeated reigning Leinster Champions Good Council New Ross on a scoreline of St Mel’s Longford 2-11 Good Counsel College 1-05.

In a game that was very physical at times this young team kept playing the football right to the end and were rewarded with two late goals from Paddy Moran and Harry Mulvihill to win by nine points at the final whistle.

The team were roared on by a strong St Mel’s following and when times got tough in the middle of the second half the supporters drove them on and helped them over the line.

Well done to Head Coach Mr Ciaran Garvey and his Assistant Miss Nikita Cassidy as well as Mr Quinn for all the work they have put into this team over a long season.

Once again a Leinster Trophy will occupy the Trophy cabinet in St Mel’s college and it keeps our record in tact of having won a Leinster A Title in every decade since the 1920s.
