Transition Year
The Transition Year program is designed to ‘promote the personal, social, educational and vocational development of the pupils, and to prepare them for their role as autonomous, participate and responsible members of society.’
Overall Aims:
The following aims are interrelated and interdependent and should be strongly reflected in
every Transition Year programme:
- Education for maturity with the emphasis on personal development including social
awareness and increased social competence. - The promotion of general, technical and academic skills with an emphasis on
interdisciplinary and self-directed learning. - Education through experience of adult and working life as a basis for personal
development and maturity.
Work Experience:
Students will do two weeks of work experience every Friday during the year. The placements must be confirmed by the end of September and all details must be given to Ms. Dempsey the T.Y Coordinator or filled in on this link Work Experience Details.
Students will complete a formal work experience reflection in school. If a student wishes to change work experience placement they must inform the school.
