The St. Mel’s Fishing Club had a wonderful day fishing the famous hot water stretch in Lanesborough today. The weather was glorious and the stretch was full of fish! The lads suggested that we should do this every Monday!
It was a great opportunity to educate these young anglers about water safety and also to let them experience different types of fishing.

Many species of fish were caught including pike, perch, roach, bream and rudd. Thanks to Liam Sweeney of the Lough Ree angling hub who helped out today and supplied life jackets and tackle. Also to Chris Clyne and to Emmet Galvin, James Conway and Joe Mc Dermott from the Camlin Angling Club. These are all very experienced anglers and we’re a huge help to the lads today. Will continue with our fish of the month competition’s and meetings in school over the winter and looking forward to our next outing next spring. HUGE THANKS to Mr Galvin
