Geraldine McManus joined the teaching staff in St Mel's College in the school year 1996-97. She taught three languages in French,Irish and German. After her untimely death in 2013 her family commemorated her memory by presenting the Geraldine McManus Perpetual Cup to be awarded each year to the student who achieves the best overall results in the Junior Certificate Examinations.
