Achievements To Date

  • Two of the major achievements to date have been the running of a Dog Race Night in April 2014 which raised the very significant sum of approx. €15,000. The fruits of this initiative was the erection of the palisade fencing along the Ballinalee Road border of the College grounds, which has served to make the College a safer place for all the children.
  • The other fundraiser was the Monster Raffle in December 2014 of a hand made life size rocking horse, when almost €5,000 was raised and was donated to the College to assist with Special Education Needs.
  • Anti-Bullying Seminar – The Association also organised an Anti-Bullying Seminar in the College for the Parents of all second level children in the town of Longford and its environs, and a most informative evening was provided by a representative of the National Parents’ Council.
  • The Association has contributed to the national debate on the new Junior Certificate proposals.
  • The Association has contributed to the Policy development for the Transition Year Programme.
  • The Association, in conjunction with the College, arranged a presentation by Fiona Gallagher who works with the Triple P Positive Parenting Programme co-ordinated by the Midland Area Parenting Partnership. This presentation was delivered to the 1st year Information Night in October 2015.
  • The Association has been involved in the scheme in the school promoting the Amber Flag which relates to Mental Health Awareness. This is a very important matter in the well-being of all students.
