Naughton Scholarship Award for St Mel’s Student

The college was honoured last week to have Leaving Cert student Andrew Gallagher awarded the prestigious Naughton scholarship at the presentation ceremony in Trinity College.

Opening of the Year Mass

The school celebrated the opening of the year mass in St Mel’s Cathedral with our patron Bishop Francis Duffy the chief celebrant .The newly elected Prefects for 2018/19 were presented with their Prefect Badges by Bishop Francis as they begin their leadership role within the school.

St Mel’s visits Ploughing Championships

St Mel’s students travelled to the ploughing championships in Tullamore today with teachers Mrs Dolan,Mr Farrell and Miss Moran. The 3 TY classes went off with Mr Quinn and Mr Rooney to Derrycasson Woods to bond and experience the excitement of Orienteering. The TY group of 2018/19 have started their classes with Brendan Farrell this week. The group will continue to enhance the environment around the college planting flowers, and improving the hedgerows around the school.
